and now we begin again.
As previously noted, the previous few days, the end of the week, were tough. Very.
And then ........
Saturday night was a short one. The day's "stuff" just wore us down. Nasty squabbles will do that.
..... Perhaps that's part of why we're here.
So, up, and showered and off to attend Church Worship services. A badly needed recharge for what had been just a discouraging time.
Came home feeling better.
Then ........ a call.
Sister-in-law and husband were up and around and the hangovers squashed (this was around 2:00 p.m.) and were Coming Over to Help.
As noted on other occasions, our living situation is less than regal. For various reasons, we primarily (99.0%+) of the time enter and leave via the back door, the laundry room door. And previously hidden water leaks near the door (among others) had led to severe damage to the flooring, to the tune of a hole in the floor just inside the door of nearly 15 inches diameter. Last "pay", we purchased some wood to use in repairs, and a roll of "remnant" vinyl flooring. But the work takes strength and skill I don't possess, and a few tools as well. Doesn't help that the floor in that little room is NOT square or rectangular, but has several short sections and odd angles, not to mention the floor entries of the dryer vent and a steel pipe to provide gas to a dryer should we have a gas dryer (we don't).
So they showed up. Wife and sis-in-law spent the time yakking in the yard while brother-in-law and I did the work. I'd already, before their arrival, removed the washer and dryer from the room, singlehandedly by the way, swept the dust etc. that had been hiding under them, etc. Oh, and brought out the roll of flooring and some of the wood to be used.
We spent the rest of the day doing this, Waiting for the adhesive to cure for a few more hours before I can bring the dryer back inside and the washer out of the kitchen and all of that.
Things were done and cleaned up, mostly, by around 8:15. Wife and I had graciously been fed some delivery pizza during this, so she and I cleaned up as best we could, and crashed.
Then, in the middle of the night, like around 02:00, Wife got one of Those Calls. Cousin, a close one (as seen above, etc., sometimes the biological proximity does not translate into close family ties, so alternates are found). Janet was calling from just outside Nashville. She'd gotten word that her brother had died, not far from here. Wife had known him as well as they were growing up. Another case of a relatively sudden death -- cancer THREE DAYS after diagnosis! -- of a person who lived and died not knowing the Lord. Makes for a tough situation for all, and of course for the deceased.
Today is another day.
We were notified upon waking that our one son-in-law's sister, Ginny, had a baby last night at 11:18. So there is a new beginning.

The Old Testament reading today brings us to the book of Ezra, chapters 1 and 2.
Cyrus the king has permitted (or ordered) the captives from Judah to return home. This gets into some of the details.
Ezra 1
