upside-down day. Next-door Great Niece had a recital set for 1:00 p.m. at an (outdoor) assembly just over the State Line a bit. This was a "must-attend" matter, not least because the child was named after Wife. So, even though she feels lousy, must go. So I snuck out of church services a few minutes early, thence to drive home, load Wife in car, make the trip, get her deposited and set up, park, and walk back. Not my dream day, but whatever.
Except .... got almost all the way home, and noted a few raindrops on windshield. Got home and the incidence rate was increasing. Got inside the hovel and the skies opened and the rain poured down. NOT a good arrangement for an outdoor gathering. Niece and husband and The Child were already there, sitting in car. We got, eventually, The Word that the Great Event had been cancelled.
Too late to go back to the church house to attend the planned special gathering there. So .... warmed up some leftovers, ate a bite or three, vegged out a bit.
Cats get upset when it storms, which makes sense.
Got the word that other neighbor on other side had to take dog to emergency vet with broken leg. Turns out they have to put him down, leg broke as a result of bone cancer! She'll have enough problem paying the vet bill as it is, chemo and surgery on dog would have been $45,000!!! Also tough because Ranger was her late husband's dog: they'd been married less than six months when he dropped dead in the front yard, so she's been through quite a lot.
Tough day all around.
We're to be up at dawn: Wife has doctor appointment at around 08:00 so we want to be out of here no later than 07:20 or so, just in case.
Quite a life we lead.
But this was all known a million years ago: Someone wiser than me is in charge.

Today, chapters 7 and 8 of 1st Chronicles.
Weird names and stuff, sure. But take a look at how those few descendants of Abraham have, over the intervening centuries, become a mighty force!! The faith of Abram and Sarai, too old to be expected to ever have children, has turned into a great nation.
The things we do and say today may have enormous results in 200 years. Or two days.
