Friday the 13th now. I'm not a real superstitious person, so I don't get all bent over it. Your mileage may vary. Some people do seem to making the whole week seem like a horrid catastrophe, with the time change, the full moon, and Friday the 13th all hitting in short order. Whatever. But I had to go Across The Line into Pennsyltucky this morning to pick up Wife's new meds at the Big Box pharmacy over there. Place looked like the panic before a comet strike or the like. The parking lot was jammed full, there were a whole lot of shelves and racks that were completely empty: the racks for toilet paper, paper towels, various cleaning products, etc. were completely bare. We're not in need, and I doubt that most of the panic purchasers are either, but whatever. I made it through and home OK.
Wife's still miserable. The stuff that was done at the clinic yesterday helped, and she was able to sleep in bed all night for the first time in several days, but woke feeling awful. If the pharmacy had been able to fill her prescription yesterday, some of that might have been moderated, but no such luck. She's on a good stretch of antibiotics and a course of prednisone, which she should have been on all along, but that's no longer fashionable despite its effectiveness. So she'll probably not begin to feel any benefit until Sunday at the earliest, and Monday is more likely.
The whole panic over the COVID-19 "thing", a panic that looks to be less of a hazard, by far, than the "standard" influenza that is part of the landscape already, does seem to be more than a bit overdone. To say the least. But we shall see. What was shocking was the number of cancelled events. Church services. The St. Patricks' Day parades and festivities of the coming Tuesday. Much else.
But the Equinox, the first day of Spring by some measures, hits on the 19th, just six days from now. A very welcome benchmark, to be sure.

49And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

52And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
57And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
58And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
