Today's Reading September 18

Good morning.
This morning we continue in the book of Ecclesiastes, chapters 4,5, and 6. The Preacher has considered the things that occupy us, and has found them wanting, vain pointless pursuits of the here and now, and without eternal significance, without real meaning. That was perceptive, something we normally forget.

11 Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
12 For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

--------------====
This evening's reading is 2nd Corinthians chapter 10. I particularly like verse 5. It's a good life lesson.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
and also
17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Jer 9:24
18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
