Very long day. Cats woke me -- later than usual, true -- at 06:25 and I never slept after that. I have an 07:30 alarm set, so wasn't any point in trying to nap after that. So up, get stuff down for Dear Wife who had a bit of energy and wanted to make home-made biscuits/rolls. Fine by me. Shower and shave and all of that, then off to church (alone). Led a class, I've been subbing in that role for the last month. Today was the final of that. One of the ladies in the church is disabled, wheelchair-bound in fact, and our facility is not friendly in that regard. So, as always, it took three of us to drag her and chair up the front steps and into sanctuary in time for the regular worship service. And the same afterwards.
I was also filling in as the song leader. I sing in the lower end of the bass range, haven't sung a melody part in half a century, and had NEVER before been the song leader. But we got through, somehow.
After church, swing by the local store on the way -- Dear Wife's condition has some dietary requirements and some strong recommendations as well. One of which is the regular consumption of bananas. So, she being out, I had to swing by and get some. Then home. Take care of some things with her, have some lunch, was dishes (me, by hand) and get her situated and all. Then back to church: the local "association" of the denomination had an association-wide get-together tonight, big gathering. We car-pooled over to it, about a 15-mile drive (if you take the right route, the driver I was riding with didn't) and had A Great Time. Got back to church to pick up my car around 9:00, then home. Ate a bit, put down food for the cats, straightened up the bed a bit. Heading there very soon indeed.
The Old Testament reading is chapters 4, 5, and 6 of the book of Isaiah.
The New Testament reading for this evening has been chapter 3 from the Epistle to the Galatians.
(as an aside, I cheated a bit this morning. I read both passages before getting out of bed. There are some advantages to having a Bible on your smartphone -- I can read and study without disturbing Wife or getting out of bed, which would disturb her. I frequently do this, and it does help set my mind for the day).
