That was a long weekend for us. Wedding anniversary on Saturday, followed by the commemorations of the 9/11 attacks yesterday along with the "normal" Sunday matters. I led a Bible study Sunday, a little bit unexpectedly, remaining in the book of James. I'm about done in on James, but perhaps the Lord has more for me to pass on. We shall see.
And then I got a message this afternoon from someone locally who has an education ministry via Internet that reaches into several east African nations. He just returned two weeks ago from one of them. He needs some help unloading a trailer load of donated materials into a garage he has on his property, so I promised to go over on Wednesday morning to help. He has a mailing list that hits several local churches and a number of individuals who may or may not be involved with those congregations, but I'm not sure how many willing hands he has.
And I sent out an inquiry to a local recruiting/staffing agency. They'd had some openings not long ago for persons at several levels doing QC and hands-on inspection work. I'd been involved in similar matters before the retirement, and frankly we could use the money. That's putting it mildly, to say the least.
Dear Wife is committed to "watching" the Little One next door tomorrow, has to be over there around 06:45 until around 6:30 tomorrow evening. I'd have gone over to help with that trailer unload tomorrow, but Wife often needs me to help with niece's dog and other things, so I'll stay home. Wednesday, both she and niece will be around home, and niece can take care of her in the event something happens.
Wife is a bit down. Saturday was our anniversary. Neither daughter bothered to call or anything, in fact they're refusing to take our calls or to respond to cards we send, we've been "blocked" on the social media sites. No real good reason, but that is what it is. I still see on social media the occasional postings of their husbands, but that's the extent of it. For what it's worth, the older one and her husband won't talk to his parents either, and they're located only about a mile from them.
The Old Testament reading is chapters 21 and 22 of the Proverbs.
The New Testament reading is chapter 4 from 2nd Corinthians.
